SOUNDS FROM THE FOG SUNDAY | 24 APRIL @ 18.00 | ALBERT KNOLL Historian | Archivist Albert Knoll, 57 years, is a historian and has worked for 20 years as an archivist at the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. He co-founded in 1999 the LGBT History and Cultural Association, Forum Homosexualität München, and became its chairman. For decades he has researched and published on the persecution of homosexuals in Nazi Germany. The persecution of homosexual men in Germany reached a climax in the Nazi period. 70,000 men were convicted under § 175, many came into the concentration camps and were murdered. After the 2nd World War, the persecution continued. Albert Knoll did not only explore the fate of homosexuals in Dachau, but looked also their situation in the postwar period. His last publication deals with the dispute around the pink triangle memorial in Dachau.
