Travesty Artist 

Richard Dierick is one of the protagonists who appears in the documentary film, Before the Last Curtain Falls, directed by Thomas Wallner. Richard’s stage career, performing as a travesty artist, spans nearly 40 years - appearing in the theatre from 1971 through to 2009.

The world of entertainment provided Richard with a way of escape and relaxation from his heavy workload and pressures presented by being a nurse at the Queen Paola Children’s Hospital in Antwerp.

The film is an endearing recollection of life as an outsider, a sincere exploration of queer identity, and a stunning celebration of the communion that can be achieved in art. He was pleased to contribute his experience and talent to Gardenia: the icing on his cake.
