We all know and can easily list male superheroes from cinema, comics, TV and literature. But where are the women? How are they represented in pop culture? Are women always portrayed as weak and waiting to be saved by the handsome hero? Where are the strong and brave heroines and role models for women?

ALEXANDER PAVLOV - Philosopher, expert in cultural studies and author of Shameful Pleasure: Philosophical and Socio-Political Interpretation of Mass Cinema

ANYA PIGAREVA – art-critic

Presenter MASHA GODOVANNAYA- a multi-talent and not only a video artist, but curator and university professor with areas of interest in experimental cinema, contemporary art, gender theory, (post)feminism and visual sociology.

After the screening of the Pink Triangle there will be a discussion on the persecution of gay men under these regimes. What were the experiences of prisoners convicted for their homosexuality, how did they survive and how is this historical episode discussed in today’s Germany and Russia?

The Amina Profile raises many issues concerning not only the potential power of social media but its dangers and the impact it can have when misused. Should alternative medias be controlled by the state and should certain ethical codes be observed when using them?

Participants:

CAROLIN EMCKE – is a journalist, political theorist and writer. As a staff writer for the foreign news desk of Der Spiegel (1998-2006), she has written about war crimes and human rights violations in Lebanon, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Israel and Columbia

LUDMILA SAVCHUK – journalist , civil activist , creator of the movement Informational World, which stands for an objective, honest information in the media and on the Internet without hatred, propaganda and trolls; nominee for the award Citizen of the Year. In 2015 Ludmila, in collaboration with peers and the human rights group Team 29 exposed the activities of the factory Olginskaya Trolls in St. Petersburg and won a lawsuit against the organization
