 | Statement: Immigration Equality is honored to be participating in the Side by Side LGBT Film Festival. Over the last 18 months, we have received hundreds of requests for help from LGBT Russians seeking asylum in the United States. We are proud to stand with LGBT Russians and LGBT communities around the world. Aaron Morris is the Legal Director of Immigration Equality. He runs Immigration Equality’s pro bono asylum project and provides technical assistance. Morris mentors attorneys around the United States on LGBT and HIV immigration issues. Morris leads a team of attorneys and advocates for policy reform within the immigration system. He is a graduate of the American University’s Washington College of Law and the University of Oklahoma. Before joining Immigration Equality, he was an immigration staff attorney in the Office of Legal Affairs of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In 2014, he was named as one of the Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40 by the National LGBT Bar Association. |
