Conchita to participate at the 10th annual Side by Side LGBT Film Festival in St. Petersburg

Artist and Winner of the Eurovision Song Contest Conchita Wurst will travel to Russia for the first time: She will visit Side by Side International LGBT Film Festival taking place in St. Petersburg from November 16 to 25, 2017. Last night, on 16 November 2017, Side by Side Film Festival opened for the tenth time at the Moscow LOFT film theatre. This year the opening experienced an unprecedented turn out of support with over 400 people in attendance.

The main surprise of the opening ceremony was the announcement of Conchita as the special guest of the festival. Conchita will appear at the closing of the festival, on 25 November 25. The bearded lady will present the movie Tomcat (German “Kater”) followed by a Q&A session after the screening and will perform later in the evening at the official afterparty. During the opening, a video-message was shown with Conchita congratulating the festival for the 10th anniversary.

Side by Side in the course of the next ten days gives the Russian audience to watch features, documentaries dedicated to LGBT themes and issues. Key discussions for this year are Rainbow familes, LGBT teenagers, queering culture and the importance of Tom of Finland, homophobia in football, historical memory and the repression of LGBT under the Franco regime.
