Tuula Juvonen works as an Academy Research Fellow at the University of Tampere, Finland. After finishing her Ph.D. on the post-war construction of Finnish homosexuality, she has scrutinized heteronormativity of diverse professional knowledge production practices about female and male homosexuality, and has consequently published on journalism, sex research, parliamentary politics, and archiving. Currently she is studying intimate and social lives of women with same-sex sexual attractions in Tampere since the 1970s, as well as leading a project titled “Just the two of us? Affective Inequalities in Intimate Relationships.”

“I am to participate in the panel discussion accompanying the film about Tom of Finland. I look forward to a lively discussion about the possibilities of studying the social history of homosexuality and making it available for interested audiences."
