BARAK HEYMANN

Director

Barak Heymann, has been working with his brother Tomer, for over a decade specialising in long term documentary projects with a social and political orientation. Together they have produced many award winning documentaries, I Shot My Love and The Queen Has No Crown, which offer not only a very personal take but an in depth insight into contemporary Israeli/Jewish culture. Barak and Tomer are a formidable team and their latest production Who’s Gonna Love Me Now? does not fail to please both critics and audiences around the world.

“I am very pleased, honoured, proud and excited to be screening this film at Side by Side. To say that the LGBT community’s struggle for equal rights in Russia still has a long way to go is as an understatement. After telling people that I am going with such a film to such a festival in Russia, I wish to believe that in the future no one will ever tell me to be careful and to watch myself. I promise to keep on supporting this struggle by any possible means as I believe that bringing change is in our hands and we must keep on fighting together for justice and humanity.”
